I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.

I never answer such messages, I don’t have the time to have coffee chats with random people. It would also be inappropriate to refer someone you don’t know.
My tip - search for recruiters at the company. Target recruiters and be specific about which role and what your skills are. Send a brief message that articulates those things.
I’ve done this in the past and have a really strong response rate probably like 85%. I think you want to be really targeted and the person should ideally have something in common with you. E.g. they may also be a Deloitte alum or attended your undergrad program. Maybe you are from the same town or city or played the same sport. Maybe they made a similar switch in their career. Maybe you are from the same cultural background. My point is people want to generally help people who are like them. So having that obvious link helps. They need to think “I see why they messaged me”, not “why would they message me of all people”
Secondly don’t do this for jobs that are obviously a stretch / not gonna happen. I find the likelihood of response increases when you’re a good fit for the role in the first place.
Finally be super snappy in the message. Hi I’m so and so, this is 1 sentence on my background that makes it obvious why I’m a fit at your company, and here is 1 sentence on why I’m interested. Here is a call to action for when we can chat.
The call to action in my experience is also key. The way I usually do that is to ask for a 30 min chat some time in the next couple of weeks.
Agree this has worked for me well too. I even ask for 15mins sometimes, most people are more than happy to chat for 30 so the initial ask is very low stakes.
I’ve had mixed success doing this, most people don’t respond. Some do though and I’ve been able to get referrals or at least helpful info. I always try to respond and talk to people who reach out to me just because I believe in paying it forward.
Like someone else said it’s helpful to have something in common to lead with “hey, fellow [school name] alumni!” Or something. Even better if you have a mutual connection that can make the intro for you so they know it’s coming.
I often send connection requests to people at the company first, just saying something like “I noticed you are in a vertical that has roles I’m interested in, and I would love to connect on LinkedIn.” Then, after they connect, I message them saying if they happen to know of the best recruiter or hiring manager to connect with? Oftentimes, they’ll either mention someone, or say they don’t know. Sometimes, people will then offer to refer for a future role. Point is, I find most of this happens after you have some kind of dialogue. Ask them a question or two about their role or experience first, etc….
