The only thing more stable than government contracting is owning horses or working direct for the government.
It’s so competitive to get in. So many jobs on USA jobs but I’ve applied to many zero replies
There are numerous private companies that can use your experience and expertise that do not deal with government contracts. I am sure you can find a good match for your skills and needs. I'm not sure it would be much different, though. The government is just another client. We are all at the whim of our clients, who can cancel a contract or decide not to use our services for their next contract. Think about why you really want to leave your current position. Best of luck in finding a way to either make your current situation happier or in finding a better fit for you.

Did your contract get terminated by the govt.? Or was it recompeted and your company didn’t win the recompete? If the latter, I’m sure the new contractor is going to want to do incumbent personnel capture
USA jobs. Look through what they're looking for in a candidate and tailor your resume to that. Use key/buzz words. Don't embellish, they will interview you and weed out those candidates who b.s. their resumes.
