You just don't get to cash out the non-vested part... you never owned it
Pension vests in 3 years at D. Also, you only own back 401k if you took a loan on it. I just left the firm at the first of the year.
When I worked in small business, lower income employees, a few had for various reasons.
Things are changing with pension and 401k in 2017. I believe the 401k match now happens monthly and is fully vested immediately.
Where can I confirm this M1?
That was for EY1
Why is your pension gone?
Another friend is telling me that someone he knows someone who had to send a check to Deloitte for the non-vested portion. That means I'd have to write a check from my savings, because I'd rather not do that to avoid some penalty for withdrawal. I'd be VERY frustrated if that was the case, so I'm assuming it's just that the firm finds a way to get it back through vanguard
@KPMG, I guess the pension doesn't FULLY vest. My bad, my bad.
When do u vest in 401k?
Doesn't the pension vest in 3 years?
Are you saying that u don't get the company match for a 401k if you leave in under 4 years?
4 years to fully vest. If OP has been around 3 years, they will keep 60% of the match
Does anyone know if Ey matches vest immediately?
D3, I totally get "owing it back", but do you pay directly out of pocket, or do they take it out of Vanguard? I just don't want to go out of pocket or face a penalty for withdrawal
You don't pay anything out of pocket. And, ive not seen a decrease in my amount on vanguard either and the paperwork has been processed as i got my "what do you want to do docs" last week. If you took a loan against it, then yes you pay that back out of pocket.
Seems strange that they only claw back if you took a loan on it. Does anyone take a loan on their 401k?!
And, if you withdrawal rather than transfer to IRA or roll over to your next companies 401k then you have the appropriate tax penalties
Not on dnet yet...
