Could be wrong, but I feel like I know exactly who you are OP. And if I'm right, please follow the wonderdful advice you gave me. You're too talented to waste away there.
If I'm wrong, I feel silly and look ridiculous, but in any case, sounds like you should make a move. Especially if the opportunity's a good one.
I went through something like this when we had an ECD leave. I was a jr and all of my mentors were jumping ship. The beauty of it is, although I constantly second guessed myself, I stuck it out and actually got opportunities I never thought I'd have as a young creative and was promoted shortly afterwards. If you're happy with the money, I would try looking at it as a positive and dig your heels in.
Leave. Now.
Yeah, I'm cheaper. I also think things went drastically south after I was hired. No way I'm putting my agency and city.
Yeah you should go. Sounds like a mess. This time though, if youve got two offers, listen for them telling you the same thing this place did.
Oh, man. I’m sorry this is happening to you, OP. But also glad to know I’m not alone. Take the offer. I will, too.
Are you my coworker?
Get out. Same happened to me. Was hired and relocated cross country. A month later the holding co merged the agency I worked for with a larger agency and laid off 75% of staff in the follow year.
Why would you feel bad about leaving? They won't feel bad letting you go when they have to
Yeah. You don’t have to be the band that plays while the ship goes down. Pull a Billy Zane and shove your way onto that lifeboat.
I also have zero relationship with anyone there. I thought people genuinely disliked me but now I think they were all too busy figuring out an escape plan to get to know me. Why get know someone when you have one foot out the door? That being said I like my boss but nothing has been done to try to stop the bleeding. No culture, no happy hours or anything to bring the team together. @sc1 I feel your pain. I feel so bad for leaving but I just think it's the right thing to do.
100% yes
Wow are you my coworker
Pulled the trigger. I feel bad but I also feel like I was dropped into a shit storm and no one was helping me out. On my first day I went to lunch with one creative because no one else was around. He told me that the place wouldn't last six months. I had just moved 3,000 miles. That was a rough first day.
Sc4 is totally right. If you are super miserable, it’s ok to leave, but this can definitely be a chance to get unheard of opportunities to grow and lead. Up to you if you think you can stick it out. Mental health comes first.
If it's kbs, don't like this....
My feeling is that if you misrepresented yourself they would have no issue getting rid of you so take that in mind when doing what’s best for you at this moment.
Those who hired me will be pissed but we are losing all of our clients and I'm just not happy. Morale has been really bad from day one and I definitely feel like I walked into a situation I had no idea was so dire.
Whoa. In a very similar situation. Few months in — work not retained... it’s looking bad. Other potential offers are in the works, but I feel pretty badly.
Run, don't walk.
