Trying to make the switch from digital marketing (10 YOE) to UX design. I have completed my certification, updated my resume and portfolio and am currently applying to jobs and cold messaging. Have had no responses. Is it just me, or are there not that many openings, especially for entry level or junior designers? Any advice?

In UX/UI there are virtually no entry level openings. Especially at the height of hiring in 2021-2022. I would suggest looking for an internship so you have a leg in somewhere and can eventually get hired on or have a good reference. Also look at small businesses in your area where you can be more hands on and have a bigger portfolio of real work.

Not to rain on your parade, but it’s already a very competitive landscape and companies are still laying off design departments ( ie Instacart yesterday), which began over a year ago, so it can be an uphill battle right now.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Is there anyone on here who’s switched sides - from defense to plaintiff - and can speak to their experience / general things to think about? I’ve just moved and gone on/going through multiple interview rounds with a big defense firm and a plaintiffs firm doing high verdict litigation (established enough to pay pretty good associate salaries). Not trying to jinx myself before any offers, but I’ve really liked the people at both firms and want to take my time to consider all angles (cont)

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.
