Uber DTW is the absolute worst. They ALWAYS make me meet them at the departures level. Shitty cars, shitty service. 0/10 would not recommend.

I think Ubers at DTW are only supposed to do pickups at the Departures level. Not sure why this is a big issue - just take the escalators. Similar rules in several airports (e.g. ORD)

YES, same experience

I use a Metro Car because I've had horrible experiences with DTW ubers. Have the best driver now!

It's a city ordinance. They force uber to do that

It's only if they have a commercial license plate. My argument to them is always, well don't offer to work at DTW if you can't pick up there. No ones forcing you to A) get a commercial plate or B) be waiting in the airport cell phone lot to do a pickup. Probably gonna switch to metro car too P3.

And ubers airport page has the arrivals level as the pickup spot for DTW so not a valid argument in my mind.

I live in Detroit, always get picked up at arrivals.. fly every week and never experienced this

Yeah I live there too, also get picked up weekly. Happens a quarter of the time I'd estimate.

A quarter of time = ALWAYS? Wow.

Detroiter here. The trick is to get them to pick you up at arrivals. I usually ask them to go to the Westin hotel entrance at McNamara if you fly Delta.
