Hello! Looking for some guidance. I will soon be leaving Verizon after 15 years with them (6 years HR experience, 3 years Operations, 6 years leadership). The last HR position I held will be eliminated and I was offered a severance. I am now in the market for a new place of employment I can call home. I was thinking of trying for a start up. But the likes of Google, Adobe, etc. also seem appealing. Would you recommend a start up as my next endeavor? I enjoy helping build processes and policies.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.

@PWC is worst company for freshers. They are force innocents to resign by themselves and threating then to not to mail anyone and not share this context to anyone worst company, if layoff means ok removing and threatening to not to disclose to anyone means the have lost every single moral. One of the things that my ADD coach helped me with was realizing that I wasn’t prioritizing activities that help me feel recharged. Between work and home responsibilities, I was just burnt out and overwhelmed.

So now when I start to get burned out I focus on reducing auditory overwhelm, getting outside, listen to music, get comfortable, read a fun book, etc.
