This is precisely why offices are dying.

There's honestly no reason to go in. Ever. Just get together for team socials ever once in a while
Enthusiast
I completely agree. I feel like that gives you a sense of belonging and social interaction. But also gives you the flexibility working from home allows.

You are VP - can't you say no?
Enthusiast
I agreed to come in, but I’m the only one actually doing it. I like social interaction, but I don’t like sitting in an empty corporate office. I can sit in my office at home and work just fine.
Rising Star
Yeah it sucks if no one goes in. Where I’m at now everyone comes in and it’s actually productive and great, but I’ve had it before where there were designated days and 0 people came into the office. Complete waste of time
Enthusiast
We are designated to go in on Wednesdays and I go about 75% of the time. I was supposed to go in yesterday, but not a single person was going to be there. Even when people are there the interaction is limited and now both people on my direct team are remote. It just isn’t the same. I hated working from home in the beginning, but now I prefer it. They are suggesting two days a week, but I am not there yet. We did have a team lunch and that was fun.
Sounds like my situation, we are told to go in on certain days but no one shows up those days and I’m a social person so I make the 1 hour drive to see people. A bit sad when no one else goes

I’m curious. This sounds like a mandate. Are people blatantly ignoring it. Fine with me but how does that work organizationally?
Enthusiast
From my understanding there’s no enforcement yet and if there is any tracking it’s likely that it is dependent on the senior leadership to enforce. right now organizationally it’s not working.
This sounds like my company.
Enthusiast
Ours is not a mandate unless you are an SVP, or if you are a new employee going through training or other special circumstances. I’ve heard they are tracking who comes in though.
