We recently changed our fax number in our department so we get documents faxed with our old number. I was told by our nurses that the faxes that we receive from pharmacies requesting prescriptions refills for patients that we scratch out the old fax numbers before giving the refill request to the RNs. I personally feel that since the RNs are the ones that fill out these prescription request forms that they should change it as they are the ones that complete the refill request form. Am I wrong?

And just to make it plain I am not the nurses secretary or assistant. My scope primarily is insurance related issues and disability and FMLA forms, and coordination between vendors and our facilities. To me scratching out an old fax numbers for you seems like a way to make things easier for the nurses but there’s no value in me doing that when that can be done by the individual. When I complete fmla forms for example I don’t ask no one else to fill in the doctors information I simply do it myself and fax it. I know this may seem small but seems a little belittling or like they feel they are too good to do that.

Yea honestly that just sounds like they are pushing something off on you because nurses are so busy and don't want anything else on their plate. I would think it would definitely be their responsibility to verify that information before filling the request.

Exactly! So we had a meeting today and my manager told me to go ahead and do it. I really think this is so unnecessary and over complicating something simple

I have a new employee that started last Monday, unfortunately it’s not going to work out. Long story, but we’re fairly certain the individual is using Meth and appears to have started/restarted fairly recently. I work with physicians, so it’s a consensus. We have to terminate employment, but what ethical obligation do we have? Two young children at home and no spouse. This is weighing heavily on us.

Anyone familiar with Covid Supplemental Paid Sick Leave in CA? Does having planned time off nullify a full time employee’s ability to use the C19 sick leave if they become sick just prior to the planned time off? (I’ve only been able to find references to eligibility being based off of hours work preceding C19 sick leave - nothing about planned time off)

I’ve worked for a medical consultant company in Houston the last two years doing various things from billing to patient care to even doing medical records request. I have been looking for a job preferably where I can put my masters in healthcare administration to use but most of the jobs I went to apply for I qualify for everything but the management and supervisory years.
