OP, I think they're saying that VP roles start to look at candidates with subject matter expertise. If you want to pivot it's harder to do that as a VP versus an associate where companies consider you to be junior and more moldable. You may have to take a more junior title and a paycut depending on your goals.
Hey man I don’t have the right answer for you. However I was wondering how your time in investment banking is.
It’s fairly similar to what you would expect. Gain more responsibility with time. The job is time intensive, not nonstop work, but always on call and very little control in your day to day. If you want a job early in your career that maximizes C-Suite interaction and gets you in conversations with decision makers, banking is a great job. Just don’t expect to be making decisions until 7-9 years in.
