I love you OP
Wait is this actually a thing? My GF is a teacher and I couldn't care less. Higher dual income would of course be nice, but picking the person you date based on which consulting firm they're at? This is some next level shit right here lol
I have dated someone from BCG. He was ok a little pretentious but had a few decent dates. I don't understand the mentality
Why can't we all just be friends fellow fish?
👹👹
Not shallow at all☝🏽
So you're a female or male OP?
I think it's good to have checkboxes but we over do it (including me). So what if he was from Deloitte how does it matter as long as you had a good time? It's so wrong to judge a person like that. And @Bain that comment is just tasteless.
Bain 1, you're simply a moron. How did they even hire you at an MBB firm? 😕
I hope this makes the top page
OP it's OK. I've fallen into the same trap with a woman from Deloitte. We can get a drink and get over this together
....not McKinsey (or jokes aside, another equivalent firm)? Tant pis pour toi. Have a better screening mechanism next time.
No coincidence this- Deloitte and touché = Douche. 😂. I typically hate generalizing but all my experience w/ D folks have been really bad. I don't know if it's a cultural thing but oh boy! They need to change fast to be well respected like they otherwise truly deserve.
BCG troll does it again
👹👹👹
After Deloitte, he became something that he is not. Figured that there is an inherent pressure to keep up with his colleagues in terms being aggressive and feeling superior, the effects of which naturally ebbed into his personal life as well. You can say he became a product of the system in a bad way. Naturally, D didn't create an environment for him to express himself and he changed himself to suit the system which resulted in him not doing true justice to what he is really capable of. It was a mess.
Hopefully you find enjoyment at work and camaraderie with your colleagues. To your question about what we do different, I would say fundamentally nothing drastic. If you draw a Venn diagram on cultures of all consulting firms, lot of values will fall in the intersection. Things like be a team player, have integrity, respect individuals etc. Differences happen on how well these values are adhered to on a daily basis. At kpmg, there is a conscious effort to put we over I . Synergy over $ targets, team wins over individual brilliance. I once had issues accepting difference of opinion in a civil way. Thanks to my colleagues and leadership, I have been molded into a positive person.
For example, we don't have 1-5 rating system anymore for performance appraisal. Having seen both models and being part of assessment meetings, people are not silly about whether someone should get a 2 or a 3. Conversations are now centered around mentorship and creating an environment for someone to succeed more. In other words, the onus is now on leadership to produce successful high performers. It creates a healthy productive situation as opposed to creating a competitive environment where people are constantly worried about being quantified. It also helps leadership to reposition themselves on a faster refresh cycle.
If someone insults Uncle D and someone doesn't fire back, then did the insult ever happen 🤔🤔
Damn
How do we not peel the layer of employment and try to connect to the human.
@EY1: can you feel it? let the douchebaginess course through your veins! Give in, it is inevitable. Succumb!
