I worked at WMP M&A and would say A&M wins on name brand, b school, compensation, exit ops. I don’t know A&M analyst work but WMP can be great training ground if you want to stay in consulting or M&A longer term. Wmp still very IT and Tech focused even on M&A team (similar to depth/breadth comment someone else said). WMP may also win on office fun-factor out of school
Salty WMP consultant lol ^
A&M might be offering higher numbers and may also be working with more PE firms. However, please do your due diligence in understanding the firm and its inherent cultural fibers.
Talk to people from both firms and you'll know what I'm trying to suggest. You'll be surprised how different they are. End of the day, compensation is important but people culture is critical.
Analyst contribute to pitches all the time at A&M and are rewarded for bringing in work (though a low probability event)
A&M is tier 2
WMP is tier "who?"
Hope that answers it for you.
Facts
PEPI is not an M&A team. Decide what work you want to do and base it off that.
As a firm A&M is in a different league to WMP.
Even if you were comparing A&M PEPI M&A Services with WMP's M&A practice, we are still better positioned.
A&M for bredth, WMP for depth
PEPI in terms of clients and comp without a doubt
A&M PEPI
A&M has been recruiting our people heavily the past 3 years. What does that say about our talent? I know just as many people that have exited WM to PE roles as I have clients that are former A&M.
Agreed A&M3. Comes down to breadth vs. depth as I mentioned in another comment. As a WMPer who’s interest is on the tech side of transactions, it’s the right fit for me. If you wanted to be more of a generalist, I could certainly understand the allure of A&M
What’s your comp big man?
How are the hrs/ week at A&M? Are you guys working remote or traveling? Thanks
