Triage, my friend. Some things just need to be on the back burner for you to get through this time.
For things that can’t wait too long, lately I have been giving myself a “scary hour” to do things I have been ignoring. (like drs appointments and organizing my budget) I can race through the hour and get as much done as a I can before it’s up and revisit the rest next time.
Also - can someone in your life help you with the things you need to triage? I hate asking for help and it’s always my last resort, but it really shouldn’t be. Sometimes they can help with the tunnel vision of overwhelmed-ness and make better decisions than you can right now.
Hope this helps, but listen to your gut and don’t push to be productive if you’re at your limit.
Your concept of “scary hour” is spot on. There are certain things I am absolutely dreading, but you are right— they probably could get done in a scary hour. Or at least I could put the ball in another party’s court.
Regarding help— I’ve been thinking about that. Trying to figure out who it is that could help me. I am not sure who could, but taking the advice to heart and will see if I can find someone to support on at least some of this.
Appreciate you taking the time to respond! EP1, could scary hour help you??
Following because I am also here. Treading water. And work is a PILE ON.
I’m sorry to hear, EP1. What’s been going on in your world?
