Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Time. Time is the only thing with any value. Time with family…time with friends…time alone…time to exercise…time to think. Invest in time.
I left my last firm in April, had a garden leave, enjoyed my summer, and hung my own shingle. I run my own M&A advisory now. 1-man shop for now, so I make my own schedule.
The problem with this world is we think Money is end all be all. Money is great and makes things easier but if there is no connection with God then what do you really have? Crazy how many people I see thinking that the money and clout will go with them to the grave and help them once they face God. I think finding that connection will help your situation. As far as changing out of IB I would say just find something that has better Work life balance that still pays decent (you will take a paycut no matter what) & just be content with the more free time to do whatever it is you want to do. This life is short. The money will always come, the time will never return.

Are you unhappy with aspects of the job, or are you unhappy in your personal life? My friends, family, and health are more important but that’s probably the case for most people. Money definitely affords certain happiness and conveniences but only to an extent.
