Not a full time position

On the bright side, it could always mean a project wide directive for surgical intervention and creation of a "Beautiful Team".... unlikely for sure though.

It means you sit in a cube for a client and do something for which they didn't want to hire an employee. Usually the client side manager is difficult and disliked by their own company and they don't want ethics or HR complaints there, better to abuse a contractor.

I'm currently working in a staff aug position. Best work life balance in a long time. I get to leave by 5. The work is important and meaningful as part of a strategic initiative. I report directly to the client senior director, and get FaceTime with all the higher ups. Sometimes it's just taking meeting minutes, but they go out to C level. Great for building relationships. Glorified business analyst.

I have applied for internal job which is effectively one level above, meaning it would be a promotion.

I got the job, awaiting offer.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
