2-3 years depending on your work and team availability to delegate. It takes a full year (usually) to really understand your position and transition into the role. Another year-ish to get comfortable and really thrive, which gets you to 2 years and the rest is either promotion negotiations or just needing a bit more time to show you’re ready for the next level.
Obviously, crushing your quotas and exceeding expectations is a major green flag for promotion. But it's not just about numbers. Think strategic thinking, client relationships, and leadership skills. Are you the AE who consistently brings in big deals and mentors junior reps? That's the kind of stuff that gets noticed.
OP, can you please help me with sharing base salary range for an AE role in a HCOL, 3 years experience. Thank you!
Depends on industry and company, but for 3 YOE I'd expect 70-80k
