When I get bored I sign up for a race or competition and that helps dictate what direction I move training into. So it's competition for me.

Good thinking! You’re a sensible guy
I like to have long term goals but also fun baby goals that you can hit every few weeks or so. For example, I heard about a cool mountain hike near me so this month’s goal is to go do it. It’s not that I can’t do it physically, but that it’s something rewarding I want to try. Last month was tougher - I wanted to finish climbing every route of a certain level at my rock gym. That took some daily work to get, but it wasn’t too difficult once I put the time in. The baby goals are great because they give me little boosts of achievement feelings, something fun to focus on, and usually get me out of my normal routine and therefore challenge me in new ways.

You sound fun! I’ll have to try this

Developing a sustainable lifestyle, habits and foundation of fitness that ensures that I will not have to be in a nursing home at 70 because I don’t have the strength to lift myself off the toilet.
Your quality of life goes up a lot when you have a good cardiovascular system. Really highly underrated. It’s nice to have muscle and everything, but when you can be full of energy year round and not be out of breath after doing 99% of the things you do, it’s worth that few hours of cardio every week.

You got it! Seriously! Fitness is a huge factor in having a good lifestyle and a good body
I think the old 1/2/3/4 plate goals for overhead press, bench, squat, and deadlift are super obtainable for most people. They're also pretty basic strength standards and there are plenty of smaller goals you can budget for yourself on the way to them.

Like it! It’s good to lift weights. You think as I do
Be mentally fit. Work on techniques and form. Learn about the body. Learn more about nutrition.

Good points! I’ll have to try to improve my technique to ensure good physical fitness
A simple way would be to set strength based goals and/or cardio goals since those are easy to quantify with numbers. For example I want to get back to a sub 6 minute mile and sub 13.5 100m while keeping my powerlifting total at around 1400lbs at under 200lbs bodyweight.

Good! Like it. Check out this “stone eagle” on the trail! Haha
More self confidence. Working out makes me feel a lot better about myself. Even though I might not have reached any current physical goals for that certain point in my lifting journey, I still feel like I am who I want to be after I leave the gym.

I agree with you! It’s a matter of inspiration, in my opinion. Fitness is a thing that gets people worked up and you feel stronger after doing a mile or five every couple of days! It gets me hype
Knowing how to use your strength in everyday life. If you focus on good form in your heavy lifts, then that's going to transfer over to how you lift and handle heavy objects that aren't just barbells and dumbbells. You'll have less risk of hurting yourself if you have to do some physical labor.
One of my more ambitious goals is to be able to do muscle ups. To do the one movement, I'll have to spend months building my upper body strength and explosive energy.
Awesome! Sounds fun. New September goal!
One of my goals is to be able to do a pull up. I've been doing assisted ones and lessening the weight little by little. We're getting there
There ya go! It’s good to have inspirations. I admire the ones who are successes
I go to the gym 4 times per week and pilates once a week. My goals is overall strength. I'm looking for a trainer that can help me with my form. I can't really see myself so I don't know if I'm doing everything exactly right and I knwo form makes a big difference
Going to the gym helps in keeping fit and maintaining! Hiking after work also helps
I want to be able to run a mile in 5 minutes. I've been working on my breathing and pacing. Right now I'm at 7 mins. I was able to do it once but haven't been able to do it since. I think I had a lot of adrenaline at the time (I was angry at someone lol)

Impressive! Let me know when you’ve *made it* and achieved your dream
My fitness goals this year was to gain 25 pounds. I have been really consistent on my meal prep, eating 125 grams of protein and 2500 calories. I've already gained 20. Been averaging 6-7 lbs/month. At this rate my goal will be met by the end of April
Keeping and improving mobility and flexibility, so as I age my body is able to keep going.
Well there you go! Love it
