Hi Fishes, If someone joins Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore as Chief Engineer, does he/she have to give competency test every second week (twice in a month)? I read some comments on glassdoor that they force you to take those test and pass, otherwise they will ask you to leave. Is it really like that ?

L6 external hires are an IC usually. You will need to “prove” yourself to become an L6 People Manager. Agree with the above comment, 8YOE is not going to cut it for L6. Not in today’s environment.
That said, there are “Manager” titles being thrown around for L5’s too. I’m an L6 IC, and having been a B4 Manager, absolutely do not want to be a PM at Big Tech.

L6 is usually manager, but 8YOE is a bit light for L6
S&O Managers are between L4 / L5. The “manager” title means nothing in S&O. Honestly, you need to ask your recruiter cause I’ve seen “Lead” titles at the L5 level and “Senior Analyst” titles at the L5 level, depending on teams
