Is there ever any room for negotiation? It’s frustrating to me that you get “rewarded” for leaving your company. Why don’t agencies want to give that same raise to retain their talent (understanding that at my level, I am relatively easily replaced).
You can try! Holding companies have salary bands that they try to enforce within their agencies. Occasionally agencies will need to go outside the band but they will need justification to do so and going from AE to SAE is probably not that much of justification.
In nyc recruiters can’t ask how much you make at your current job- they are only ask what your expectations are so obviously people go higher from the offset. That is one of the reasons why people make more when they leave their current agency for a new one.
You can def let your agency counter the offer. It’s happened before and depending on the team, brand, agency they’ll try to match
