You should tell your doctor now that you’re having burning pain. I don’t remember that from my c-section at all. I had a very speedy recovery - tho I’m awed at you ladies getting back into exercising so quickly. I was a sleep deprived slug for a year.
I was able to sit up in bed 3 days after. I walked for the first time the following day and released from the hospital on the 5th day. On the 7th day, I went to brunch with my husband. Days 8-14, I slowly walked around the apartment. And on the 14th day, we had a small party and everyone was shocked how normal I was acting. But the minute the Percocet wore off, I was in extreme pain. I relied on it for about 4 weeks before I weaned off it. I quickly felt strong and was able to push the stroller during our walks. Everyone warned me that recovery was tough but it really wasn’t that bad for me.
I’ve had 2. Getting the all clear at 6 weeks usually means you can resume all normal activities (exercise, sex, lifting things, etc), but everyone recovers differently. With my first, I could go for a walk with the stroller with no issue at 6 weeks, but if I tried to take our 95 lb dog out for a walk I’d be in pain for 2 days. I didn’t start running again until about 3 months pp, mainly because I just didn’t want to, but I also just felt like my body wasn’t ready before then. Recovery with my second was much easier, although I definitely overdid it more often in the first couple of weeks. After that I tried to be more mindful. My advice is listen to your body. You just went through a major surgery. Bring your concerns up with your dr. I remember having some lingering burning pain, but nothing that called for meds.
Oof yeah I actually haven’t had much bleeding at all and am well past 2 weeks. A couple of weeks ago I would have said the pain is overall across the incision though the left side feels more sharp, but that disappeared a week ago and now it’s definitely localized to the right side and feels more intense. That’s a good idea though - I’ll ask my doc what side the sutures are anchored on - thanks!
I had burning pain, almost like a sunburn, for about 6-8 weeks after. I was able to do most things by 4 weeks pp though besides heavy lifting— the burning was more of a consideration for what I wore (dresses worked, pants did not) and caused a lot of discomfort when breastfeeding without at least two pillows.
I never had burning pain, definitely worth mentioning to your doctor. 6 weeks was the go ahead for sex and exercise, though I didn’t start working out again for a few more weeks after that.
By 6 weeks I was mostly myself, albeit unable to do a sit up. Pain was over in much less than that. I took meds for only a few days. Was walking and lifting the baby by 6 weeks. So tell the doc.
It’s most likely your version of normal, but not standard or totally the norm it seems.
Like all surgeries, everyone heals differently. I was in major meds for a week and then felt totally fine vs I had friends who couldn’t lift anything or bend down for a while. Listen to your body and see how things go, and ease into everything (excercise, sex , whatever ) vs pushing yourself to meet a deadline.
Also agree you should checkin with your doctor about any issues like burning pain
I’m one year PP with my second C, and I have no incision pain, but get the worst ab spasm/charlie horses when I try to do core exercises. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice on how to counteract them?
6 weeks recovery for me was not needing my husband to help me out of our big pillow top mattress 🤣 I’d be more sore and get random pains where the incision started. I was consistent with Tylenol but once it wore off it was hard. Laughing, sneezing, and coughing were only painful for about 6 weeks, too.
Like SD1, I was up and walking around the hospital by day 3 and was home on day 5. I remember on about day 7 having to walk to CVS and took my one (and only) oxy to be able to walk there and back and not be in pain. After 2 weeks I was pretty much back to normal and resumed exercise (albeit still pretty modified) at week 6. I wasn’t in too much pain after my C section but I’ve got a hell of a scar (raised, pink) so we all recover in different ways. What you’re describing though @OP is not normal pain - definitely raise it again with your OB
