Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia at retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax (ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity.

What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!

I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

I just drunkenly admitted that I don't mind being a diversity hire.

Just got an offer at Deloitte. Feel like comp/rank are too low due to lack of diversity of interviewers. :( Can anyone relate?

Hi all! I’ve been dating my bf for about 4 months now and there are some things he says/is into that make me believe he is either Bisexual or has gender dysphoria. I could really use someone’s advice who has a similar experience like this. Is anyone willing to chat? I just want to be supportive and helpful.

We are exploring having a third party come in and assess our I&D efforts across our company. We have many locations across North America. Is anyone aware of an entity who does this? We have found questionnaires through target organizations and have done anonymous employee surveys but are hoping to find someone who can do an assessment for gender, minorities, disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+, etc. and provide feedback on the actual employee experience and where we may have blind spots.

Compliance question here, I have always thought of the SALT deduction on the fed return as a perm item & have treated as such in such sch M-3. I see that some people put it as a temp on sch M-3. What is the justification for treating it as a temp on the M-3. You don’t set up a deferred on the def RF for the state tax deduct & it is also a rate impacting item (I know that some temps can be rate impacting). But this all leaves me to side with perm. Does anyone know the logic behind temp treatment?

Hi-I have 120K in cash in HYSA. After keeping emergency fund aside. Still have 75-80K available that I plan to invest. After 401k, HSA, IRA and monthly expenses: we are left with 6K every month. So investing 12K every month in market. My worry is with that rate - it will take us 12-14 months to move the extra 75-80K mentioned above. However do not want to make a bulk move. Any advise how to plan the switch. At present have 60K invested in stocks. Thanks

My company is paying for one credit card. I'm leaning towards Amex Platinum given the large 100k sign up bonus at the moment (which I'll be able to hit). People lean towards CSR because of the 3x on dining but I don't eat out that much (and additional perks, but I prefer the Amex for that).

How long did it take you to receive your first promotion? I have 3 years of work experience, currently at my 3rd agency, and third associate position. Four people on my brand team have been promoted (across levels and departments, but none in PM). I'm getting sick of being pumped up with empty praise if others are actually being rewarded with accolades.

LMAO what do Afro Latinos look like? I just asked a creative to include more pictures of Afro-Latinos in our hispanic messaging and she said "I tried to find pictures of videos that looked authentic but they didn't have the right look, it's a very specific look". So no black people in the ad cause this white passing lady needs to gate keep who looks latina enough. The blond, blue eyed women in the photos passed though... UGHH.
