Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? My research gives me a mixed review: some say it's good, some say that thoughtworks is not stable enough like big 4 or other organisations. Pls help Thoughtworks Deloitte
Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

This is just very project dependent

You shouldn't be working weekends. If you are, you're not doing it right IMO. Although I'm not including Sunday evening check in on schedule and plan for the week so my team can hit the deck running on Monday morning ;)

Depends a lot but most teams I know take off some time to workout / eat in the evening. 3 hours is probably a little aggressive though. Likely more ~1-2 if you're coming back on after.

It’s pretty typical for me to work 8-1130 with an hour break for dinner, Monday-Thursday and then 8-4 on Fridays. I do not touch work on the weekend
As you get more senior you get more flexibility on when / where / what you work on but overall hours stay the same or even get slightly worse
Coach
I would not count on 3 hours to yourself. More like 1-2 max. And the time after dinner is not chill laid back, you have to come ready to go full-throttle in many cases until midnight-2am if necessary.
Weekends are mostly protected (80%+)with some exceptions where you do have to burn an entire day. Some people have habit of doing 2-4 hours of prep work Sunday afternoon to prepare for week.
Been here almost a year. For me, has fluctuated between 8:30am - 6/7ish on a chill week (~20% of the time), same as above but 1.5-2 hr break then come back for 2-3 hrs (~60% of the time), same as first but 0-1 hr break then come back for 4-5 hrs (~20% of the time). All the above generally for M-T, Friday is usually off by anywhere between 4:30 - 6. Outside of short Sunday planning for the week, I’ve only worked on the weekend maybe twice. One other consideration: it’s not usually very easy to tell which of the three situations I’ll have on any given day/week (tough to ever plan things for weeknights)

Honestly unless you are doing due diligence, if you are consistently working 60h+ a week, you are doing something wrong.
The average for hours at my office is 64 hours per week. Slightly down for from 67 hours per week during 2020.
