I went into a chief of staff role to the head of HR- wonderful mix of project based work on behalf of the CHRO, strategy and planning, and supporting along their HR transformation journey where my change management experience has come in very handy. Also got some great people management experience too. If you go to a firm where HR has a seat at the table (as mine does) the opportunities and type of work you get to do are actually excellent, and very fit for an ex-consultant
In my case, the CHRO has an office next to the CEO, and does purely strategic work mostly based around organizational culture and strategic talent management. Also, I don’t know if people recognize how complex aspects of HR are, particularly the technology side and operational components (I.e payroll, benefits, mobility). HR, like any other corporate function is undergoing transformation at the moment with RPA, AI, online self-service tools etc making it apt for a consultant. In my opinion and based on the role I am in anyway!
Org effectiveness, general transformation roles (most big clients have transformation offices)
I transitioned into a Business Advisor Role. I work with the Exec Mgmt Team and VPs to design and implement strategic initiatives through Org. Effectiveness. We're actually looking to fill another Business Advisor Role in the Houston Office. If anyone has Accounting/Finance/IT background coupled with Human Capital experience and is in the Houston area or doesn't mind relocating to the Houston Area, let me know.
We're also looking for a Director of Leader Coaches - this is for someone with more of an HR/HRBP and Coaching Background and is also based in Houston.
Sorry, I’m just seeing this. It's on Augusta Drive. A couple of miles from the Galleria area. Let me know if you're still interested
Talent Management / Learning and Development rolea
People Analytics!
And more interested in strategy, OCM, building teams, diversity&inclusion, etc. Thanks!
Plenty of people exit into OCM, people analytics, I’ve even seen a few do corporate strategy. I actually just interviewed with corporate strategy at capital one.
I feel it really depends on how HR you are, vs being strategic or understanding the business behind HR
Talent Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness. Most of these roles in industry at Fortune 500 companies would prefer someone with an I/O background though.
@D4 It’s seems to be only getting worse...they recently downsized their account managers so support from them while we attempt to pull all of our historical data out from cornerstone has been terrible. I’m glad we are moving away from them.
I have heard of Docebo, haven’t had any exposure to it. I may explore this further as we will be in the market for a new LMS since Workday isn’t quite up to par yet. Thanks for sharing!
Those roles are going to be hard to find and you will need to demonstrate that you have experience in them. I would reach out to some recruiting firms that specialize in this as they would know where those jobs are.
