What's the Denver legal market doing these days? Any firms hiring? Really need to relocate out of my hell hole (but UBE) state.

Denver attorney here. It’s dependent on your practice area, but I generally think there’s a lot of opportunity if you have a few years of experience. Very large Federal Government practice here, so keep an eye out on USA Jobs if that interests you. Compensation packages are creeping up, but still a bit behind the pace rapidly growing cost of living.

Was applying for jobs in Denver pre-covid and hiring seems to be slowly picking back up again. Their UBE transfer process takes FOREVER though.

That’s not surprising. The anything process with CO attorney regulations takes forever

CO Attorney as well and agree with Attorney 1&2. I have been licensed here 15 years but bc I was a solo practitioner / contract atty for almost my entire career it has and continues to be EXTREMELY difficult to find a job now with a firm. My experience is so eclectic and it is actually a disadvantage here. I would suggest making your resume as tailored as possible to the positions you are applying for.

Following — eyeing up CO at UT, personally.

What is starting biglaw salary in CO? What do places like Brownstein pay first years? My trch company is opening an office but Im worried atty salaries are v. low compared to Bay Area, where I am.

I think BigLaw first years top out at 150 in Denver at places like Brownstein, Dorsey, Holland&Hart, etc. my info might be outdated though, it’s been a few years.

I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I have an offer accepted from Elevance 125k (Anthem) and w a good team and seems that WLB would be ok. Also, Amazon hiring manager wants to interview me for a job. Is just a hiring manager int. so obvi nothing guaranteed. Salary if offered will be more than 150k. My question is should I accept the interview and see where it goes? Is it really worth it to proceed with a company like Amazon for 25k+. I live in CA so $ is imp but I do have a toddler so WLB is also imp. Both role are Sr. MGR.

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

Considering leaving to take a partner position at a small firm. Is it worth it? Would only be 2 partners with a staff of 10. Comp would be 250k on the low end and probably top out around 350k. Would take 3-4 years to get to this level of comp as would be buying 10% per year up to 40% of the firm. Am I stupid for not taking this? Currently manager making 125k. Comp first year as junior partner would be 120k with 10% ownership.

There's a debate about this going on in the Google bowl, which I find interesting. Most people are saying they don't have a problem with this, but I think it's deeply unfair.

The argument that resonates with me is that if you move to a LCOL city the value of your output isn't all of sudden worth 25% less.

Curious what others in the industry think.
