What’s the etiquette around applying to two diff positions in same company (Big 4 firm)?

The 1st role , I just completed 2nd round (or 3) for. As I spoke to the team more about it, seems like the role is l different than what I expected (more operational than consulting).

I then came across a diff role (in a diff practice) which aligns with background. It’s also a step up (promotion) from my current role, not a lateral -as is the case with 1st role.

Should I speak to HR…

How difficult is it to get into LEK consulting?
How much weightage is provided to referral?

PMs, do you think consulting interviews are very easy?

Although I’m not sure i necessarily want to stay in tax. I have a young toddler at home and want to find a job i like, makes decent money, and has decent hours so i can spend more time with family.

My contract is close to ending with a verbal offer on table to stay for 30k. I am looking for something more techanical in the engineering field that matched my abilities more. Is it worth the move even if I don't have anything lined up. Personally don't think I can handle job and applying all at same time due to increased anxiety.
