Tech company lay offs….are they soon to be inevitable?!

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?

Who is still in denial about a housing correction? The Fed just made another .75% increase. Powell said they won’t stop until inflation is 2%. He also said a recession would be better than the consequences of unchecked inflation. He announced he will bring rates to a “restrictive level” until “the job is done”. He said that labor demand needs to soften (ie: layoffs). He very explicitly said he wants to slash demand and that housing needs a “correction”.

One is a friend I’ve known a little longer and has been a good friend and so she would feel betrayed and angry if she knew I were still friends with her now-enemy. Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

Online when I research MBB partner salary it seems most things state 600k base and then only increases in bonus. Is this true? Or does a partners base comp also increase with tenure?

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

Anyone have a recommendation on a good place to get a bespoke suit in the DC area? I’m a odd size so places like Suit Supply and Indochino tend to not work out. I’m thinking I might have to take a weekend trip up to NYC but obviously would prefer not to.
