What’s the job market like in Big 4 & Protiviti risk assurance right now? Im thinking about making the move back to external. I left Big 4 IA a few years ago and have stalled out on career progression due to company growth slowing down. Still a strong market with good growth potential into Manager and Sr Manager positions?

There's never not a need for IA, so there's definitely jobs - however, you may have outpaced B4 raises when you left; as such, it's possible you won't be coming back to higher offers (but definitely a steady advancement path).

like

Not sure you ‘stalled out’ or just normalized to industry. Comp trajectory isn’t the same after you leave B4 as generally you’re not core business anymore.

We have a hiring freeze in place with the exception of some specific roles.

1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?
