Plan oriented and not flip floppy. It’s so frustrating when priorities or objectives change every week.
My ideal manager is just as you described. Someone who is mostly hands off and trusts me to get the job done. There has to be a balance, though. My current manager is like this, but to the extreme. Like, when I need him to step in and take my side over something, he doesn't seem to have the backbone. Frustrating.
BOOM! You have described the perfect boss
My manager is awesome. Sh e is quite laid back, does not micromanage, and generally lets me do anything I want. I can take vacation days anytime I want. Don't need her permission beforehand because she stated I may use her electronic signature for whatever I need.
We don't sit around and speak for long but she's so nice and accommodating. She's rarely here anyway. She works from home a lot since she has two small children. She is, however, a great person to work with.
My supervisor is also my mentor; he's become a close friend and surrogate elder brother figure for me; we operate in a really relaxed atmosphere.
She's a little awkward, so I'm not sure if she likes me. I'm by far the newest member of my team, and she's quite close with my coworkers, so our lack of connection stands out a little. Yet, to be honest, I don't intend for it to be. I can be friends with my coworkers but want to keep my bosses professional.
I get along well with my director since we have a lot in common. She's almost my work mentor, so I collaborate closely with her, even though I only chat with her once a week at times. She is enthusiastic about her work and enjoys being challenged, so she may be a little overbearing at times, but it is never personal and is always done to accomplish results.
