Where do capital markets / m&a associates exit? I don't see many in house roles for these practices.

GCs or CLOs are normally former M&A or CM lawyers.

How many real estate lawyers does Google have? (To be fair, probably more than M&A and capital markets combined, but still, I have to imagine they are a minority).

What you're saying tracks with what I hear (CapM/m&a move into corporate generalists), but in practice I seem to rarely see this. For example, Google and other F500 typically don't have a corporate generalist role because every role is fit within a specific lane. Or are you talking about roles at smaller/more obscure companies/PE opcos?

M&A/cap markets is difficult to make early exits from

like

It's the reverse, except that AGC for commercial is more prevalent. There's more securities/M&A roles posted than GC, even if you're counting "head of legal" for random startups. Still, it's an odd point to raise. The question is, where do capital markets/M&A associates exit to, and you basically said "well, there's more [data privacy/tax/some other random category of roles that these associates aren't going to] openings than securities/M&A."

They take commercial counsel roles

Got it. How do they like commercial work vs. M&A? I'd think the two are very different.

Some recruiter in Accenture lined me up for an interview for a role which was not in my skillset ( by saying that this is just an evaluation exercise and they will map me to the right role) and obviously I got rejected. Now I see that I am not eligible to apply the role which I was targeting for the next 6 months. Any idea how can I get this escalated so that the recruiter ( Accenture employee) should at least be careful in future before fooling a noob like me?

My coworker did mention to the manager that they’re not being paid well for the work they do, and our manager took it personally and told them they’re ungrateful 🥲
