Latham. They dock your pay as a summer if you have to call in sick for a day lol.
Can’t speak to the other comments, but this is patently false as a recent summer there. Also confirmed with former summers from other offices that this never happened for any of them.

Most biglaw firms. They can’t raise rates as fast as they would like, so they increase profits by penny pinching. It’s a trend.

Jones Day. No access to the gym in the building, more expensive health care, no meal / car benefit (or if there is, I was never told), “subsidized” cafe that costs the same as just eating outside the office with lower quality food, obviously no bonuses of any kind.

Exactly that.

STB and KE basically
COVINGTON. So cheap
Some firms give you the option to either have a firm phone (usually the latest unless you’re unlucky) or get your monthly plan reimbursed - usually capped at $45pm though). You just reminded me to automate the sending of my bill to my PA!
QE has good benefits but is extremely no frills internally (very cheap meal allowance, one time we got highlighters and pens as our Christmas gift, etc.)
You guys get a Christmas gift?
McDermott, especially as someone coming from Schulte
Schulte offered free legal representation for associates in real estate transactions and basic wills (a very unique benefit for biglaw), liberal late night meals and uber policies, set number of PTO days that would get paid out if not used, no pay docked if time entries were entered late, lots of free lunch events, McDermott basically nixed all of those and it’s just shocking how cheap of a firm it truly is
Not sure if they are prestigious, but mofo is constantly nickel and diming its associates
Damn I thought mofo was the total opposite
I heard from a friend that Sidley makes everyone pay for the vending machines lol
MoFo does the same
I agree with A8. Most big law firms that pay market (salary and bonus) seem cheap to me on benefits. They can't lower the market salary amount or bonus, so they try to play these games. It is just sad, but to be honest making 400ish as 7th or 8th year isn't bad!
If ur not making your bonus hours lol, your base is far from guaranteed the next year as you will be let go

What do you mean no bonuses at JD? You’re saying they are below market in that way?
JD is known to be below market. They use a black box compensation model and brag that this enables them to pay well above market to their stars, but on average they are underpaying.
