EY OP - that’s why GT1 said “if you want to stay in public”. Agree that Big 4 looks better on your resume if you want to go to industry.
And mid-tier is not regional.. RSM, GT and BDO are as international as Big 4... I left Big 4 because I wanted to do more business development and start selling work as a Manager. In Big 4, up to SM, you’re pretty much behind your desk and doing your work - they dont encourage people to spend $$$ and time doing BD (i already spent $5k doing BD alone the past 7 months in RSM). I’m doing a lot more BD than even my senior managers at Deloitte - who don’t even know how to sell or find opportunities!
Plus EY OP, after leaving PwC, and spending 4 years at GT, I am leaving to join RSM soon. Throughout my search to leave, I have also received offers from reputable industry companies in my area, one being Koch Industries, not to mention I'm still receiving call backs for interviews. I chose to stay in public, so that's why I'm going to RSM in a more specialized area, which would be even more money (35% increase).
Kpmg if it makes you feel any better, Deloitte a1 in New York were starting at $56 back in 2011 and we’re making about $60 as a2.
Kpmg def had the highest base pay this year for first year associates 😉
@KPMG3 I call bullshit
@deloitte4 sounds like you can make a better offer. We might need to talk
Cashing out on these ECIBs is nice. $12k each May for the next 3 years plus annual 8-10% bonus each Oct
EY has the lowest base for sure, from someone who has interviewed at all 4 in weeks span
Didn't you hear KPMG 4? 😂
Unless you already picked them and are just now getting them.
I 2nd RSM1. Once you get the Big 4 name, just move to mid-tier of you want to stay in PA.
Gt1. I would say having big 4 as the most recent job instead of mid to be more beneficial once you leave public. If I was a hiring manager, I would wonder if you had performance issues at big 4 and that’s why you left for a regional.
And I say that because the 3-4 big four people I know that left for regional all were either getting held back, fired or being put on pip.
Grant Thronton 1 - welcome to the family (in a few weeks)!
@PwC 1 - Perhaps but it’s 5x harder to make partner at Big 4.... too many SMs or directors stay there forever without going anywhere. my partner at RSM makes $600-800k per year. I’d be happy with that.
@PwC2 - I was in Seattle... but I was considering jobs all over the country, since I wanted to get out of there. I’m now in Southern California
DT1 that is your sign that you are going nowhere, time for you to get out of the way so that us up and comers can have some opportunities.
I'm an Assurance Senior 2 in TX and I make $69K
Not sure about kpmg. Any truth to this?
4/4 bonus is for sure. base at least in my service line is higher than Pwc and Deloitte from what I have heard.
Not pwc
If you are EY National practice, and I'm saying that I am, just answering for a friend, and have been 4, 5 and occasionally 3 rated -- and never once received a bonus. Not once.
I did estimate the last one, it was a promo year. I assigned 5% to the promo, the remainder above.
