Which one would you pick?
Citigroup - compliance WFH, good salary, don’t like job OR Wells Fargo - Audit, in office 3 days, 30 min commute, at least 10k more salary and better bonus, job I like

I would personally pick the job I like. Life is too short to be doing things I don’t like when I have the opportunity to choose between the two.

likeuplifting

3 days a week really is fine. I was dreading going back in when I was full time wfh but now we need to go back in 3 days a week and you get used to it literally after a couple of days. That plus better pay and you enjoy the job makes the answer quite clear

like

30min is nothing. Also negated by better healthy lifestyle I guess.

You should look for job security and wlb.

like

Agree with most. Wells Fargo. For three days a week in office, $10k more, and job you want more. Plus flexibility could change in the long term either way. So unless you need flexibility for work from anywhere or plan on moving soon Wells Fargo seems like the best bet.

I have a feeling audit at WF won’t be easy with all their issues. What is your current role?

like

Auditor by trade

like

I worked at WF. It’s literally the worst company to work for. Save yourself the stress.

like

I also worked at WF, briefly. It was before all the scandals but it was really clear that there were major ethical problems and other cultural issues. I know the OP has made up their mind but I was shocked at how terrible WF was and left sooner than I could have ever imagined leaving any position.

All banks do have consent orders, MRAs, etc. No one at any other bank has ever advised me to lie and blame people for things they weren’t responsible for.

Didn’t you answer your own question by stating you ‘liked’ the WF job more?

like

1.5 hour extra commute each week is not bad for a job that would make you happy. Find a podcast you enjoy and can listen to on your commute.

like

To me, depends on what your obligations and time commitments are outside of work

like

Life is to short to do something 40+ hours a week that you hate, which makes me wonder why you applied for a job you dislike? Citi has a million different roles, maybe try for another one. Also, WFH elevates the work/home balance & that 10K more a year isn't enough for 3 hours of travel time a week IMO.

Which one will be better to set you up for the thing you want to be doing after that

like

WF

Thank you all, it seriously helps

like

Pick the job you like. Plus more $. Sounds like the only thing the other job has going for it is that it’s WFH. If that’s most important to you, maybe go for door #3 and keep looking for a job you like that’s also WFH

What’s the average salary for a manger in FinTech. My wife is a Manager in FinTech and earns 95k base with a 10% bonus. Is that competitive? I hear that this field is getting hot and curious to know if she’s potentially leaving money on the table by not moving elsewhere.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
