In NYC, Geico is usually cheapest. I have a VW SUV in the city and pay $240/month. It’s dependent on so many factors though - especially how many car related claims are made in your zip code, because that makes you a higher risk.
Curious which borough you’re in. 2 year ago, I was paying $150/month so they really keep increasing our rates constantly :(
It’s helpful to use an insurance broker because they can shop around for you and see who is the most competitive
Also, if you do a defensive driving course you can almost always receive a discounted rate and I believe it lasts 5 years
They’re all a fortune. Some people care about ratings of the insurance company which often align with price but not always. Also coverage level obviously directly impacts price so be sure to compare apples to apples.
Geico is considered average. Allstate is considered poor. USAA is considered good. There’s numerous other factors as well.
Being uninsured is why everyone will give you a high quote, shop around after 6 months of being insured and they will come down significantly also if your willing to have an semi intrusive app monitor your driving habits that can shave off another 15% usually.
While the discount is alluring I’ve heard that the data from the trackers can be used against you in a case or suit by either insurance company to avoid paying.
