Who's your leadership MVP of 2024? Can be based on any characteristic, but I'm going with innovation and I'd have to give it to Jensen Huang at NVIDIA. Their dominance in the AI chip market is a great lesson on anticipating the future. Would love to hear your picks!

Honestly for me it's Kamala Harris. I know she didn't win the election but she fought like hell, and she had only 100 days to do so. I think her campaign has probably shaped the world for young girls everywhere, and I really admire her class and sense of confidence

I'm sorry, I couldn't imagine anyone involved with AI getting passing grades on traits such as respect or integrity or gratitude. Simply can't apply that to someone involved in scraping the web to repurpose the work of others. It's honestly hard to come up with someone who deserves that honor, especially in the US. I'd agree that VP Harris comes to mind, though obviously a lot of people can't view someone like her in a positive way.

I don't think you understand what nvidia's products do if you are just dragging the chatGPTs of the world...

Communication is definitely the most important to me. If someone can't communicate then they definitely aren't a good leader because a leader has to be able to effectively and efficiently communicate to their team.

My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. The new director essentially began shutting me down any time I ask for clarity in my career progression. Now they have taken credit for the project I’ve been building over the past year+ without giving me props whatsoever to higher ups. What is the best plan of action here?

Heading into 2023, here are some phrases I'm eliminating:

1. "No worries."
2. "No problem."
3. "Sorry to bother you."
4. "Does this make sense?"
5. "Sorry, I'll fix that right now."

Here's what I'm replacing them with: ⤵
1. My pleasure.
2. Of course, happy to help.
3. When you have a minute, can I get your opinion on ____?
4. Does this help you clarify things?
5. Thank you for catching that!

Words are powerful.

Use it wisely.

What does the bowl think? (the team is starting at 5 and will grow to 8-10 over the next year.

"[Activity X] makes for the best team-building, hands down. "

I’m in IT in a large corp and I don’t know what to do. I’m the systems engineer and I planned around what I thought was a straight forward concept. It appears what I thought would be possible was wrong. Everyone celebrated thinking I’d figured it out, including me. Were spinning up a full team to build it and I’ve exhausted all avenues to find an alternative solution. There isn’t. Horrified this is a career limiting situation….

I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?
