I work in London and people are treated well here . There are 3 major parks at walking distance from my home which would put even the best parks in india to shame. My team shuts their laptop at 5. Some leave for home at 2-3 and nobody judges them. Managers are super friendly and never ask you to reschedule leaves and I only had issue with an Indian manager once. There is no corruption in government department, police is seen as friendly and helpful unlike India. Nobody checks your bags here in metro stations. You can literally stand outside parliaments stair or PM house door and click pictures and there is no drama in the name of national security. The benefits which you get for paying tax are immense. When people feel respected they do more for the country. Our government tax us like Europe and gives benefits like Nigeria.
Few things to think about:
1. Getting out of India is tough due to visa & expenses but getting back to India is just too easy so I find it hard to believe when someone onshore says that I would prefer to be in India rather than being at US or UK
2. If we look at number of people moving out of India and giving off their Indian citizenship, it’s increasing every year and setting new records - why so? If India is so great then this shouldn’t be happening.
3. Mostly people travelling to US/ UK are from the families of NRIs who earlier moved there. So the logic that NRIs recommend to stay in India doesn’t make sense.
4. US, UK are first world countries and the QOL is just incomparable to India. For example: 100 AQI is very severe there but in India 200+ is normal, governments are not corrupt, people are educated and well behaved, opportunities are much much more, people work to live unlike India where we live to work.
I have hardly seen a case in my firm that someone moved back to India just because they love India or miss their country or QOL at India but I have witnessed people crying that their visa are about to expire and they might have to come back to India.
All in all, if you seek growth (which I believe we all do) and money ( definitely we all do) then 90/100 aspire to move to onshore. I personally will take it as a lifetime opportunity if I get a chance and so is the thinking of almost all the colleagues I have met so far, n>100.
Topic is subjective but if you think analytically in terms of real life facts then only conclusion is that majority (almost 90%) will prefer to be onshore.
I'll tell you the truth. It is because people who had worked hard to get where they are have suffered the corruption, reservations, vote politics, taxes with no facilities in return, corrupt govt offices, etc that after experiencing so much of unnecessary struggle they don't want their future generations to suffer the same hardships. Agreed, they might have to have a different kind of struggle in another nation in terms of being away from family, the feeling of an outsider, cultural differences, but all aside it is a good standard of life. These countries are an equal opportunity provider in true sense. With good minimum wages, social security and even free healthcare and education like in EU and UK, it ensures a good overall quality of life.
When these things are put into perspective, money you're getting now doesn't matter in the long run.

Colonial mindset. Many have a pre conceived notion that Anything is better than India- grass is always greener on the other side. Only when they go there, they will realise that it is not so rosy.
I see that people commenting about lifestyle. I don’t get what better lifestyle someone gets more than what they get in their home country. India is not war-torn like a few in Middle East. We have a good infrastructure for commute and it’s developing into a better one. I found London to be just the same as any metro in India. Nothing great to speak of. The only city which I was in awe was New York.
I have friends and relatives who earn double and triple than the so-called ‘on-site salary’. All of them wish that they are here in India looking at the current market. I turned down a skilled visa move to the UK for which I was offered double the ‘on-site salary’ as my base. I found competing offer to be much better and can never be compensated in the UK unless I’m into finance which I’m not.
My brother who earns 4 times as an ‘on-site salary’ plus a working spouse says that it is better to be India.
UK and Germany are not that great compared to the current job market in India. Even the US is losing its charm these days. But the only country which I’d say is better move than being in India is the US because of the abundance of opportunities.

1. Getting back to India is easy but with what pay? I saw an post yesterday where someone had completed their MS in the US and earning 120K pa and got laid off. When the same person tried a job back in India, that person only got a 15LPA job. The ones who want to stay abroad are the ones who did MS or who went ‘on-site’ and couldn’t get a high paying job back in India.
2. Moving out of India and giving off Indian citizenship are entirely different. Moving out has drastically reduced while giving off citizenship has increased. This is because of people living for a long time in that country and would want to settle there.
3. The NRIs who follow the market and know that they can have be financially better off in India and the ones recommending India and not by blind idiots who argue anything is better than India.
4. QOL is subjective. The same people who say QOL is great travel to India for dental and eye procedures. I personally know many who do this live in Canada and the UK. AQI is overrated unless you live in Delhi and surrounding areas. People are not dying out of breath here in India and the people who live outside India don’t live for 100 years. Frankly speaking, people who live outside India are prone to get many life threatening diseases like cancer and diabetes and also vitamin deficiencies. Coming to government, it is the same garbage as it is in every country. UK has had 3 PMs in a matter of months and are begging for money. US is a shit show. Protests every other day because some group was offensive to the other group. The amount of woke people in the west could possibly be the driving factor for leaving those countries in the future.
The only people who cry about visa expiring are those who can’t cut it here. Take the example in the first point. I also read a flip case where someone got offered 50LPA and they happily moved back to India.
There is no growth outside India. Europe is for coasting. I’ve never heard of anyone who’ve actually done some work unless they work in some of the recent startups. The US is the only country with opportunities and financial growth if one is able to move to a start up or FAANG/MULA companies. Else it is the same garbage. The only people who boast about living outside India are the ones who went ‘on-site’. They would have moved when their salary was <10LPA and if they come back, their current org is not going to 3X their salary. Now, why would they want to come back if there is no room for salary increase.
Offer 50LPA and on-site offer to a set of people and see how many prefer to move on site.
I enjoy working and having a life after work in London. I like the weather, low corruption, no pollution and the natural beauty of UK. I also like the non-hyper competitive culture where every one just compares success. But I also miss my family, food, friends in India. I guess you can't have everything in life. I was really unhealthy due to work pressure and pollution in NCR, I could not continue that. I feel its a hyper personal decision for everyone. I was not transferred onsite but I found a job here from India and my answer in interviews was always that I want to experience a new country and a new life and that's what I am doing today. Do I want to stay in UK forever who knows, life is too long to plan and too short to worry about. I am just going with it for now and it has been 4 years.

Bro let’s catchup in London someday 😎
Lifestyle, and there are benefits in return for those taxes.
Now a days that is for the past 1 or 2 years only the package in India has increased so much. Earlier 10 plus years getting 1 lakh per month in India itself is a bigger salary. Also in most of the European/foreign countries no need to work beyond 8 hours, will get one month paid vacation. No traffic like mumbai or bangalore.

@author It's because their population is aging and they have more job opportunities (IT) but lesser population to take up that job which is always inverse in india. Whatsoever opportunities is created in india it will always be cut throat competition only because of our country's dense young population.
The aging population is definitely an issue. Japan is the biggest victim of this currently.

Humans tend to live their entire life in elevating their life. Now some want to elevate spiritually, some look for knowledge and some merely go for lifestyle/materialistic elevation. Humans with very basic mindset will go for Materialistic elevation and their happiness would be bound by it. A moderate human being will always look for wisdom/knowledge. And higher beings doesn't settle without getting spiritual elevation. Now, from my understanding, I didn't see many people moving to western countries to seek spiritual elevation but mostly are moving for either wisdom/knowledge or material life. Now if you are moving to gain more knowledge in respective domain, it's great , but only for the sake of material living someone's moving abroad, they will live and die without actually getting anything out of this beautiful life
