Hello All, I have been selected in the interview at NTT DATA and also submitted documents as requested by Recruiting HR. However , it's been a 10 days after docs submission but haven't received any call from HR for salary negotiation. On email follow up with HR, he said he is on it and will come back to me soon for further process. Any views.NTT DATA

Probably two rainmakers and didn’t make sense to make one report to the other and create conflict where there was none.
I heard they got a lateral partner a couple years ago (from K&E?) that someone at the top pushed for and then created a silo in corporate. Agree it sounded very odd and not a great group to be a part of right now

These replies don't seem serious. The simple answer is firms often have corporate specialists that only support the deal work in the corporate group and then they'll have a self-sufficient group where they may have similar skillsets but have their own clients for the most part. Extremely common and not weird at all with firms that have large specialty groups like tax.

So, let's say you join (perhaps as the result of a merger) and get put in the tax group. You get no deal work? Seems like a shitty spot to be in through no fault of your own.
was this q prompted by the MWE exec comp opening? was wondering if I should apply, but maybe not…
is their opening only for Boston?

I know this post is old but McDermott seems to have ERISA, health and welfare, and true exec comp practitioners. They all get labeled as exec comp but honestly are very very different things. Someone who does deal support and focuses on 409A isn’t going to know anything about Secure 2.0 for example even though both are labeled “exec” comp at some firms.

What makes you say that they have two?
Coach
Yea but they almost certainly mean a sub-group within Exec Comp. Different firms use terms like “department” and “group” differently. Maybe “group” to that person means the level *below* the Exec Comp bucket level.

They’ve lost three partners, four associates and an of counsel in the past year. What a train wreck.
