Some people get high on clearing entrance exams maybe!!
"Lick feet of politicians"
I wouldn't completely agree with this statement.
Every organisation has people, processes and technology. People take the precedence, process enables a smooth flow and tech fastens the process and makes it user friendly. Civil servants are the ones who (help) define and implement the policy level changes that are essential for the government to function. For instance, the OMR sheet mode (digital) of correction for competitive exams, Fire safety norms/precautionary measures/drills/zero day equipment etc. This is just from an IAS officers perspective.
You have IPS, IRS, IAAS, IFS etc. All these are the vital roles which would help the government to function. Law and order during riots, decisions about Sec 144, Curfew etc, relations with nations and different bodies of the UN, defining policies for enforcing them for tax and audit etc are some more examples.
We can't function without these people in their seats. Please respect them. No job is easy. Even yours even mine.
And FYI, I'm neither from IIT, nor from IIM. Not hoping to be a civil servant, never wished either.
Not everyone hankers for money. For some prestige/power also matters. Prestige/Power coming from UPSC >>>>> Prestige/Power from a corporate job
What makes you think that our bureaucrats don't need knowledge of technology and management to perform their jobs....they do need it and have every right to get it before they start serving us....
They earn in crores every month(some, not all)! Corporate jobs can’t even come close to that.
Could be. Also the power that comes with it!
It shows your ignorance about the actuals in UPSC. Not all UPSC aspirants are from IIT,IIM. And nothing wrong in aspiring for upsc at any age based on eligibility. Please dont view it with only few examples that you are aware of.
Rising Star
I have asked a different question. It shows your ignorance, not mine. I didn't say all, I said many people. I'm talking why those people (keep aside the numbers) do that ?
General perception is that if you're pursuing a degree from IIT IIM, it is more likely that you're going to get good opportunities and designation in corporate. And people spend a lot of money for MBA and as well as BTech, then why to go for UPSC later which could be pursued earlier as well.
I'm just asking what make these particular people to go for UPSC.

Lol bro we all are slaves to someone. So being a slave with power and money is better than being a slave without those

Tag value. That's it
