Will start applying to SWE jobs in the next few weeks. What non-FAANG companies should I be considering? 4 YOE, looking for backend positions, want to optimize for learning and WLB.

It varies greatly from team to team. We get unlimited PTO and most people do take several weeks off every year. Some days I'll work 10 hours, other I'll work 6 hours. There's lots of flexibility. Overall, I'd say we fall somewhere between Microsoft and Amazon.

Learning and WLB? Sounds like Microsoft would be a great fit for you. A shameless plug here.

funny

Agreed, I think Microsoft would be a great place for me. I am a bit worried about applying to some of these top-tier places because I don’t think I can invest as much time in interview prep as I’d like, but I’ll give it a shot.

Are there any teams you’d recommend/recommend I stay away from?

Is non-FAANG specifically bc of WLB?

Yeah that definitely makes sense.

I moved to the Netherlands 3 months ago on a spouse visa. Was working with EY-P earlier. I have been applying to jobs and giving interviews but for some reason things are not working out. I get a different reason everytime (after going through the whole process). This has never happened earlier in life and now I don't know what else to do. I have worked as a strategy consultant (& a researcher). Should I change lines? Where else can I try?
I can't apply to boutique firms since Dutch is mandatory

Hiya!

I'm looking at applying to MBB (Preferably BCG) for a summer internship this summer. I'm a first-gen Oxbridge student, and while I have little experience in consulting along the lines of MBB, I did work in the city last summer as an sustainability consultant.

I'm curious how important it is to have a referral etc and what you'd recommend for applications opening in jan. Any advice is super appreciated I don't have any connections to the industry but it's something im interested in.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Wondering what people think about my situation. I’ve been offered a role with a company. The job description didn’t mention college degree as a requirement. On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact). It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.

Anyone here in partnerships management or business development or strategic alliances development? I’m in a BizOps role today and have been trying to break into this space without much luck. Hiring managers / recruiters always say the same thing when they do give feedback - that they’re looking for someone that has experience in the same role. What’s the best way to break in? It’s not like there are business development classes like there are coding classes where I can learn the job.
