Lol the ‘recession is next year’ prediction has been every year for the last 4+ years. And also, what recession are you referring to that Deloitte did not lay-off? 2008?
Who in tf is running around hyping up this recession all of a sudden? M1, you’re absolutely right. “Oh it’s coming in the next 6 months” was a phrase I’ve been hearing since 2014. People need to chill out and not cause an unnecessary panic
My thought is to get out of implementation line and get into strategy. Recession could be an opportunity for strategy services, but definitely a neg for implementation sales.
BCG recently started to pitch strategy work on recession prep and restructure.
don't you think it would be hard to switch from Implementation services? Firms freeze hiring during recession and if they have to hire, they will pick experienced strategy consultants layoff recently over someone with not relevant experience.
Deloitte was a bloodbath in 2008-2009. There was even the St. Patty’s Day Massacre.
Realistically if clients lay off during recession -> less consulting work -> less engagement opportunities for staff -> more staff not being utilized. Don’t have to be an accountant to figure out what comes next. Person who fed you that info was probably drunk at the barn, OP.
I am considering the same thing. I want to move after the bonus payout, but worried if moving right before a recession is going to make me an easy target for layoff from my next job because I’ll be the newbie.
Most Firms hire freezing in recession, so there is always a risk especially you do not have network at your new employer to support you
What does your last sentence mean? You mean lay-off?
I do not predict a recession. Don’t live in fear
Deloitte absolutely had layoffs in 2008. Wave after wave.
