Also, what’s the compensation like in Austin specifically? I would think the compensation would be different than Cupertino. Anyone have any offers or salaries for these positions in Austin?

Unless staying for the short window will put your health or wellbeing in jeopardy, probably best to grind it out and find some coping mechanisms then depart later if the grass isn’t greener.
The problem, Grind it out never ends!
Only you can really decide how bad is really bad and what your threshold is. If making partner is a career aspiration, and you can ride this out, you should. 6 months will go before you know it. Once you have that partner title, it will open the door for other new and better opportunities both in and outside your firm. Good luck!!!
Grind it out, 6 months is nothing when you consider the long term exit opps once you hit partner. You didn’t get this far by taking the easy route, finish it off. Best of luck!
Thank you for the encouragement!
Your future self would kick your past self’s a$$ if you quit. Grind it out, everyone is capable of much more than one thinks.

We’ve been in a pandemic for 2 years, you can grind it out another 6 months
Can it be as bad as Mitch McDeer had it in 'the Firm'?
Word has it, McDeer is practicing under a pseudonym now - Lt. Daniel Kaffee
I’d try and stick it out for the next 6 months if you’re that certain you’ll be up for partner.

6 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things and you can grind that out for the partner badge, which will last a lifetime. Maybe try and look at your nightmare client in a more sympathetic light and try to find reasons to like them (the joke is there'll be a worse client down the line). But please make sure you can escape from this client at the end of the 6 months.
You’re so hardworking you can make it through 6 months and we support you from afar and if things get really bad mentally then you know what to do
Would it stay at the firm post partnership? Are a lot of the firm's clients the same as this nightmare one?
Wow I mean I guess different priorities I guess so hard to advise. For me, the damage your are doing to your body , and probably appearance , with seriously accelerated aging seems like wayyyyy more of a cost than any money you make at work. You can spend enough to reverse that stuff
Honestly, if your mental health can sustain another 6 months, then, power through. Especially if you won’t have such a difficult client anymore.
Hang in there, just make sure you take care of your health. Evaluate for yourself if you can grind it out without killing your physical and mental health too much.

What will be the change in salary?
Probably triple or more but that’s not a motivating factor at this point. I’m way past but the money is good phase lol that helped me survive the first 4 years.
What is a nightmare client? What do they do that make your waking hours a living hell?
This too shall pass. That’s the advice I tell myself when I’m stuck on bad clients/ teams
