No
Absolutely not
Burnout is very real across the ad industry, and your trade-off is long hours and poor pay. If they wish to have kids young, they may also want to think twice.
To any graduate who likes the romance of advertising, I'd advise that you go work for a client in marketing or comms department. Almost everything from a financial perspective will be better for you, and you end up calling all the shots with agencies anyway.
Truly depends on your personality and what you’re looking for out of a job
More for transitioning from formal education to the workforce within the short to medium term. But as a long-term career within a media agency, probably not.
Nope
Nooooooooooooooooo….
I don't know why so many people in here hate advertising lol but I think it would be a great idea. It's a really cool and creative environment if you like things like that
Where do you work?
I love it. But it’s also definitely not an easy industry to be in and would argue it’s not suited for most people. It really depends on who you are and what you’re looking for
Certainly! For new graduates, it's worth considering if you're genuinely interested in marketing and creativity. While shows like "Mad Men" glamorized it, the reality of the advertising industry can vary. It can be rewarding if you're passionate, but be prepared for hard work and ongoing learning especially if you're in pharma/healthcare. Research and internships can help you make an informed decision.
I'm at the point where I think I'd tell a youngin' to skip college, too.
Pick up a good trade, do that for a few years with zero student loan debt, then open up your own business.
Depends, can you tell me why you would be interested in that career? Your answers shall determine your fate
What is your skillset? And your personality type? I think that that will make a difference
Damn, I was looking for some group perspective in case my own pessimistic outlook was too severe. Is this an industry in decline?
Absolutely. Hasn’t been the same in the past 4-5 years
