I completely disagree with anyone doing medicine for any reason other than passion, so I would not push my children in that direction. They would have to convince me.
No, I wouldn't. Unless, as you said, it's what they want to do. The world is changing for sure, and there are plenty of things they can pursue that they'll probably find more fulfilling.
No I wouldn’t. It’s all about exposure to career options early, knowing the pros and cons and consequences of their choices. Unfortunately some of us have differences in privilege to be certain whether choosing Medicine is the right career choice.
I wouldn’t encourage them but wouldn’t discourage them if they have their heart set on it. I would discuss the pros and cons and if they go, definitely encourage them to pursue a specialty and not do primary care, which is moving more and more to the APP model. There will be always be a need for physicians until the robots take over everything. Even then, the Enterprise had a medical officer! But if they want to go into it “for the money” agree there are easier paths to financial success.
Most definitely not… unfortunately 😫
No not unless they knew they wouldn’t be happy doing anything but this
Exactly what Physician 2 said!
