I am currently interviewing at TikTok for the Content Partnerships Lead role. Can anyone share some insight into the salary bands in the Sub-Saharan African market? Should I benchmark with the global rates?
Any tips and experiences interviewing in this region are also welcome - and highly appreciated! :)

Are you not able to transfer internally for something more exciting?
Are you actually applying? I wouldn't just message the hiring manager...
Is the other project that much cooler? If similar pay and level, I generally operate under a Churchillian approach: Google is the worst employer, except for all the other ones. Consider all the direct and indirect perks you get from working here vs elsewhere (I personally value the office perks alone at ~$7500/year probably, especially the food - plus the 401k match worth ~$11k, etc).
But if the project is really that cool (better than anything you can transfer to internally?), then it could be fun to explore and build out another part of your resume.
Thanks for clarifying G1

How do other factors impact your decision, particularly culture and WLB? You can get more interesting work elsewhere, but if you have to put up with PIP culture or high pressure, it may not be worth it
If this is your chance to switch from ads support to something hot like AI, it might be worth it. Beyond that, I don't know.
I work on a team with good culture and WLB at Google, and know I'd be putting those at risk. The team I'm looking at apparently has the same (according to people I've spoken to). Another factor is that I've been at Google for more than a dozen years and want the experience of working somewhere else (even if that's shortsighted).
I wouldn't either. A lot of risk in moving companies, and you're not saying too much that I'd say is a big reward.
There are certainly orgs that are perhaps doing more interesting work and I see many orgs just trying to keep the lights on. Try and transfer internally if possible. The grind to L7 is real and in this environment will likely take twice as long. Internal transfers are difficult for many many reasons. Overall you are prioritizing the right things - learning / growth. If you cant find it inside, go outside.
Thanks, that's my perspective as well. I've been at the company for a very long time, and am placing an outsized amount of value on new experiences. I should be sure that I can't find what I'm looking for inside the company.
No, what’s interesting now might not remain same. It’s company culture and people that matter most.
Nope, I would not
