Wow. That is a GIGANTIC leap there. Just because we have fired partners doesn’t mean we don’t have partners leave for perfectly acceptable reasons.
This frankly upsets me - you just marred a man’s excellent career with literally zero facts and 5 people liked it.
For the rest of the folks reading - her announcement had absolutely nothing to do with Mark’s retirement and OP here made a lot of assumptions.
Wow this could be libel if Mark really wanted to pursue it...
^ Op, you do realize, Kelly is a Vice Chair for our Americas’ business with a reporting relationship to Mark, who is our global CEO and is still holding that role until our FYE on 6/30.
So the house she is cleaning wouldn’t include Mark - she has no responsibilities over him; it’s the other way around.
Also, if he was involved in something, don’t you think it would be an immediate termination vs running the risk of keeping him for another 6 months as a walking PR risk?
Actually he’s known for a couple years that he wanted to retire. This isn’t a “convenient” happening. Looks like someone really DOES need “proof” if he wants to make these accusations.
Ditto to what others are saying. Unless you have evidence, spreading this nonsense is just as much a reflection of your own ignorance and poor attitude as it is useful contribution within the fb community.
12 partners over 2 years firm-wide and you draw this sort of conclusion?
I really hope no one lets you near data analytics engagements.
OP, what happened to you that you felt the need to make such a leap? If you had a story that was disbelieved or you weren’t able to speak out about it there are healthier ways to deal with this than making the “no smoke without fire” argument against other people.
I’m ignoring the Weinberger argument bc I have no idea, nor I’m guessing does anyone else here. I do want to give props to Kelly making it explicit. You don’t change behavior without managing to consequences. Knowing 12 PPEDs were exited for misconduct shows there is a line that has consequences if crossed makes expectations clear.
OP agree with every comment made here. On the all hands webcast Kelly went out of her way to praise Mark’s service to the firm and to talk about it being a personal decision he had been deliberating for a while. Why would she say that to 50k people one week and the next issue a statement that “implicates” Mark?? It’s beyond illogical and you sound like an idiot making such a gross extrapolation. It’s also utterly reckless and inappropriate - do you think you have some special right to smear the good name of Mark or ANYONE without an ounce of evidence? Finally, you’re missing the real point of Kelly’s note - times are changing, the bar is raised and accountability is blind to titles / partners. Focus on the real message and leave Mark out of it
Op has a great potential as a HuffPo journalist. They appreciate these sorts of unsupported and wildly speculative claims
How many partners have left total in the last two years? Dozens, hundreds? What does that make the likelihood that any one departing partner is leaving for those reasons?
Nothing happened nor will happen to me. Just posted a thought on what everyone is thinking without saying. Keep thinking everything at EY is peaches and cream. Kelly is not done cleaning house
OP can’t argue with any of the points made above so he/she side steps every one of them. The fact is, it’s just a tin foil hat conspiracy theory that I have a feeling wasn’t clearly communicated by the OP in the first place. Most seem to be reading the OP as implying Mark engaged in this behavior himself, but a subsequent post implies it’s because Mark didn’t do enough to prevent this behavior from others. Which one is it? Either way, you have no facts to even support your claim which is why everyone is telling you that you are an idiot. Facts != proof. No one is asking for proof, just some sort of fact that shows your post has some basis in reality.
Well said
