I would think that a vast majority of people get MD to practice medicine
If I could turn back time , I would get an MD and do something more meaningful than this useless BS
I’m considering a career switch. Approaching my mid 30s
Scully is an MD and did great work for the FBI.

You could work in insurance and find novel ways to deny claims
Public policy officials in the area of health
Pharma if you also get a PharmD
Public health policy
Litigation consulting
Hospital/health system management

Work for a pharmaceutical company
I've seen MDs in our firm - I am pretty sure other consulting companies also recruit them for their HC practises.
Usually the ones in consulting have practiced at some point, even if it’s just finishing residency. It does not hold a ton of credibility going into a hospital to talk with nurses and doctors and not have ever practiced.

Research
If you don’t want to practice medicine, it’s not a great choice. But if you find that practicing medicine isn’t for you, there are plenty of roles where having an MD is useful - healthcare consulting and ventures; medical roles in pharma and medtech; various things at insurance companies and health systems, etc.
Healthcare / biotech / life science investing
There are MD’s working in consulting for Big 4’s.
Yes there is a lot of demand in life sciences / pharmaceuticals. However, I always find it kind of wasteful when I see doctors moving into corporate jobs.
Plenty of MBBS at pharma and CROs. Many of my cra colleagues are MBBS
