Can you negotiate stock for a sign on bonus instead? Looking at an offer, ~2YOE 135K base, 15K stock (publicly traded co.), 10% target bonus twice per year (Target TC w/ stock ~175). I am not interested in the stock, since I’m starting an MBA program next year and won’t have time for it to vest, but I do want to continue to build my RE portfolio and would be able to use a sign on bonus for closing costs on a property I’m buying.

As we head into Q4 of 2022, I’m starting to reflect on my professional goals, and my biggest one is pivoting from technical recruiting into a more strategic HR role (talent development, people ops, onboarding & training, etc.). I have an MBA in HR Leadership. Since being in this role, I’ve had a chance to work cross-functionally w/ a global onboarding revamp project and other ad-hoc projects. Hello! I’m a clinical healthcare worker and am currently working on a master’s in finance to pivot to healthcare consulting.

I’m trying to get an internship next summer (I have the time off work) but am having difficulty finding internships for non-MBA master’s degree candidates. (I have a clinical MA and doctorate & it’s been an auto-reject from analyst internships.)

As a post MBA hire, I am trying to stick to this mindset - I might feel like the firm made a mistake hiring me, that I am not cut out for this field, that I am worthless and will never make it here.

Maybe I’ll make mistakes. I’ll not be liked. I’ll struggle. I’ll self loathe.

But no matter what, I’ll give it an honest faith effort. If it doesn’t work out, is just one job in the whole market. Consultants are not inherently more value-additive, there must be something else for me.

After MBA, Deloitte UK offered me a low-ball position of a C instead of SC. I really want to work for Google (dream co.) in their GCP domain as a Program Manager as I have Project Manager experience too. But every time I apply for the role, I get rejected. Is salary hike on job switch calculated on total ctc or fixed salary?
Asking cuz after MBA, a lot of companies pay inflated CTCs to MTs.
ICICI pays 18.5 ctc but 12 is fixed and 4 lakh is paid after one year and 2 after second. How will hike be calculated on this by HR On a job switch?

Subjectively speaking, (since most of you are already in consulting) but at what point do I just give up and accept my fate that a firm won’t hire me? I’ve gotten conflicting advice about continuously apply to firms bc it makes me look bad when the truth is, I’m coming from an industry that doesn’t have a lateral move. Any advice on what I can do to have stable income but also not have to worry so much about a corporation?

Been with a bank for 15 years, the last 6 as a financial advisor. Looking to transition to a role better suited for my finance MBA and background outside of the sales realm. Unfortunately every recruiter and interviewer only sees my sales background and wants to hire me as an advisor at their firm. Any tips on how to avoid being type cast as a production only employee?
