Welcome to consulting. It depends on your goals.
The MBA is only useful in strategy. Only get it if they’ll pay. If you take 2 years to do an MBA you’ll come at the same level and ppl younger with a bachelors will make more than you. If you are already in you don’t need it
Second SM1. Depends on your goals and interest. I have 15 YOE and a recent masters degree in an area that is related to my day to day work (not MBA) and it didn’t really impact my salary. No one brings it up, really.
When I interview folks for associate up through director roles, it’s never something I ask about. It tends to be a good talking point for candidates to reference in speaking to how it influences their thinking, communication, and leadership approaches but I see as many great candidates without MBAs as with MBAs that can speak to those aspects.
I have 3 YOE and an MBA. The MBA isn’t helping me get into consulting because I don’t have the experience they’re looking for right now. Just keep that in mind as you pursue advance degrees.
I was laid off during Covid, went back to school and decided to stay unemployed bc of how rocky the market was at that time so if you’re able to continue working while getting a degree, it’ll help. You won’t have a gap in your resume like I do that’s hurting me right now.
