What are some great paying fields/position that are lesser known in the world of finance and are not crazy hard to lateral into? With around a year of experience in asset management/operations, I always try to think about what my career path will be and so far it has been ever changing.

It been three months in my new role and I already feel like I downgraded myself from my previous job. What should I do? Has anyone come across this kinda situation in their career? In the interview, it sounded like I would learn a lot more and I asked them all sort of questions from data to reporting (public reporting), but now that I am in this role I don’t feel challenged and I don’t play a huge part in the reporting. What should I do?

I came across a role where I think I’d be a good fit. I think I found the hiring manager on LinkedIn. Thinking of sending her a note. Curious to know what folks think how I should approach it?

I don’t like my current role that I’ve been on for 7months. I may lose my sign on bonus if I move out before 1 year is up. Is it too early to apply for other roles if I can only resign from my current position 4 months from now?

Need some feedback. I interviewed with a Fintech company for an AML analyst role. I have had 2 interviews plus the phone screen. The interviews went great and the third interview went really well, the interviewer even told me that I would be a great fit for the team. I was expecting an offer, but it looks like they want me to interview again with another person. The pay for the role is $76-78K, is so many interviews normal ? any advice ?

I was short-listed for a role and my potential employer’s HR asked re my expected salary range. Afterwards, the HR offered me a salary within my expectation. I was shocked to know this as HRs usually provide lower than expected salaries. Do I still have the leverage to negotiate higher? I do have another job offer but the former’s salary offer is better. Appreciate if you could provide some inputs.

How did you get promoted? I’ve recently joined a cybersecurity startup as a analyst on the finance side, and I am the only person in the role. The company is growing incredibly fast, so I feel there is upward mobility. Im a shy person, and I’ve never been promoted before, but I want to begin to advocate for my career growth. Does anyone know the highest paying company for a financial operations position in canada?

Excel tests. Been in a few finance roles, not traditional FP&A and hadn’t had to take Excel test in interviews. Nothing really advanced IMO. Actively applying and noticing some postings where it explicitly states there will be an Excel test. For hiring managers that make candidates do a test: What are some common things you want candidates to know? I have no idea if they want to run a data set that can be solved with a pivot table or do a financial model.

Looking to move into asset/wealth management or equity research…would getting my series 7 open doors for me? Less than 1 YOE in a middle office operations role.

. Hey ya’ll. Need advice. I was part of recent layoffs. I’ve been asked to return. Same pay and I will not be eligible for raises since the role is new. I’m also now an IC instead of a leader of leaders. My goal is to get to VP in the next two years. I’ve also had some great interviews and expect offers next week. I have until Tuesday to decide. How would you all go about making the decision?

I’m a financial advisor (Series 7 and 66) and I really wish I would have become an accountant or investment banker. I like advising, but it’s a grind to find people to make new clients to sell to in order to survive. Are there any exit strategies for a successful young 26 y/o advisor to move to investment banking or a salaried advisor job?

Jeez does anyone else feel frustrated with their experience working with headhunters and recruiters? I feel like they go to you before they have an accurate idea of what the company and/or hiring manager is looking for and then it turns out you’re the wrong candidate for the job (feedback is that they are looking for x, y, and z) - shouldn’t you have picked up on this when you spoke to me? Please stop wasting my time 😩

Looking for a salary range for ANALYST 502 role in JPMorgan securities wealth management. I believe I am being lowballed

Recently I got offer from Early Warning LLC(Zelle) for Senior Manager position for Data Engineering role at Phoenix location.Getting $40K hike including Base and Bonus t no stock options since it’s private company and no joining bonus. Anyone tell me about culture and how is the experience working there ? I know this company is funded by 7 major US banks and grown to 1500 employees.

Shall I stick to current company or make a move to Early Warning(Zelle) based on current market condition.

I am 24 years old and I’ve been a commercial lender for a community bank for 6 months now. I’m not sure if I want this to be my forever career but I want to give it a fair shot. I’m wanting to further my education through certifications or licenses but I’m not sure which ones are worth my time/money. I want it to be relevant towards my current role but also help me in the future if I want to switch career paths. I plan to stay in the finance industry if I do switch. Any advice is helpful!

Anyone familiar with Samsung Asset Management (ex. Culture, wlb, benefits etc)? Headhunter reached out to me about a role and comp they offered was very below market. Told them this and they’ve reached out again saying they can match my comp expectations now. But now I’m wondering if them not initially knowing the market rate is a red flag

Hey everyone, I have what seems to be a unique job with CGI Inc. I graduated with an MBA last year and was hired on about 6 months ago as a junior financial analyst. I started acquiring Project manager analyst (PMA) role responsibilities as well once I started. Is there anyone else that has been in this position or something similar that could comment what the salary should be for my role as we are approaching year end performance reviews? Any other finance/pma roles at other company help too.

Just applied to the "Corporate Banking Summer 2023 Analyst" role at the Bank of America. Do you know how the interview process is there and what do you think as a most sought after skills for that role? My Excel skills are almost advanced (apart from VBA) I know other parts. Currently preparing for CFA level 1 and have a previous six months of internship experience in a tech industry. Based on this what are the odds of being considered for this position or any such a position?

I have an interview at Salesforce for a senior project controller position. What can I expect in the first of 3 interviews? I don’t expect it to be crazy, but I’d rather be prepared as much as I can.

Looking for a relationship management role in Finance or Fin Tech that is fully remote. Any suggestions for companies like this (large or small)? Preferably CSM type role where I wouldn’t need to travel. Also open to other role suggestions as I’m interested in pivoting after 7 years in sales. Currently at a large asset management firm.

I’ve been a financial accountant for 10 years, several corporations, currently holdings accountant. I have been offered a role as senior master data finance analyst within a listed multinational with many new acquisitions and integrations. The role involves master data management, process improvements, documentation, participation in data migrations and incident management. Anyone that has taken a similar path, what are your impressions and the value added to your experience?

Anyone ever take on a new role and wonder what the heck the precious person was doing? I’m a month into my new role and my predecessor was working 10 hour days, I have been at <7 hours and feeling like I’m missing something. I know this person did a lot of double checking others work (other departments) and I have told them you are responsible for your own numbers but other than that I don’t feel there are gaps.
