Wondering if there's any tips out there for attaining a significant pay jump/career move. Been in retail banking for years, teller up to branch manager. Pandemic hit and that was the exit sign for me. Found this current position within my company and took it bc it's wfh and touches on a piece of what I like which is aml and risk. But the pay is just not there, I'm struggling to pay bills. I know I'm worth so much more but I have not been able to figure out how to get from point A to point B.

There are two job openings with a company I would die to work for. I have the experience required for the higher paying position but I believe it will be very competitive. The other position is a step lower, still great salary and I’m definitely qualified but would rather have the other position. Do I apply for both in hopes to get one or stick to just the higher one I want so I don’t send mixed messages?? Edit: The lower posting will close before the other one.

Thoughts on working in trading? I know virtually nothing about it. I applied for an “analyst- trading” position and got an interview for next week. Currently in sales and debating a switch.

Could I get some feedback. i interviewed for this AML analyst role for which I was referred to by a friend. I went through 4 rounds of separate interviews and they all went extremely well, I was very confident that I would get the job but today I got an email saying I didn’t get it. I was extremely disheartened to hear this as I believe I showed more than enough competency for the role.
Any advice or feedback from someone who has been rejected for a role they were qualified for ?

What are TC ranges for. Sr. Finance Manager position in SF (non-FAANG)?

Hi everyone! I’m currently an M&A and Corporate development analyst on a leading utility focused on renewables. I was wondering about exit opps to PE funds that operate within the renewables sector. I currently have 1 year exp. Do you think i should go through IB first or should i apply directly?

MS of finance from NYU or Baruch? I’m using this as a way to try and break into a more financial role! I can also use this new degree to apply later to an MBA at a higher tier school.

Currently work in wealth management in a CSA position. I have my series 7, and will soon have my 66. I’m international and my company cannot support me beyond a year with the visa. Any advice on the next position I should look for? Or the next series exams I should take before leaving to make myself more hirable? I have an MBA and am working on a second masters right now in project management.

After several rounds of interviews, I was offered a position with BOA. They will be conducting a background check and Im curious how a simple assault charge on my background from 2010 will affect my ability to progress in the process. (For context, I was in a domestic situation where my roommate attacked me and I retaliated and threw a plate at spaghetti at him..long story short, we were both taken in and charged. interview. They said they wanted to choose
quickly so if I interviewed last Wednesday
when should I expect to hear something
back if I'm getting an offer? I was thinking
maybe the end of this week?

I went through two rounds of interviews for
a job that the posting stated $36.66 per
hour (FP&A Analyst)…the company
recruiter had told me in the initial call the
pay could be 32-36 because of the other
benefits. If I do get a job offer what range
should I try for? I was really hoping to get
around the 36-40 but now I feel like they
may try to offer lower than what was
posted. Also there was no range but the
average for this position is upper 70s-90k.

Recently got a verbal offer for a VP role at barcalys in London, Id check was done as well 2 days after I accepted the offer verbaly.

Anyone here who joined barclays recently in the UK and can shed some light on the process? How long it takes usually to get a written offer letter after verbal offer and what are the usual time lines in terms of remaining process?

HR mentioned on the call that salary was already approved as it is high priority role.

Dilemma… I left my old company 4 months ago. Today, they’ve reached out to me to ask me to come back at a higher role, Operations Manager. I would’ve jumped on this opportunity if they asked me before. However, this role would be hybrid (2x in office) and come along with more responsibilities and hours than my current WFH role which is very chill. The pay is only 15% more than I currently make. Any thoughts?

Background: accounting degree, cpa, big4 background and now have 3+ years in operational finance in entertainment. I can do the work- but at the end of the day (probably like most people) I’m just not fulfilled. I don’t think I can do this another 30 years let alone another 5.

Happy Friday fishies! I am looking to leverage an offer from another organization to ask for an increase with my current employer. I love my team and do not want to leave, but feel I am being woefully underpaid. At what point do you recommend bringing the offer to your manager? Do you need to go thru the entire process and have a formal offer letter or simply let them know you are being courted and it is for the same role at a considerably higher salary you’d like them to match?
