Does anyone know of any defense-specific startups hiring? A good friend of mine is looking for roles in startups on the policy/strategy/investor relations side of things fresh out of school. He’s new to startups side of things but has lots of research experience and brilliant.

We work with earlier stage startups at my company but I’d love to point him in the right direction - either in form on a job board, companies or specific players in that space willing to take on an intern. TIA!

How hard is it to get the associate intern position at McKinsey as a current non-MBA Masters student? I submitted my application. Any tips on who to contact to get an interview?

I currently intern for a major stock exchange within index R&D (pretty much a data scientist role) and previously as a data product PM. I hate my job so much. I want to get into EdTech and currently got a side project going on helping charter schools new comers apply for funding through public policy strategies and build out their infrastructure. Can any of the older people in this forum teach me how to leverage and pivot this into something that I can use to break into edtech? Please help

Just saw an intern I managed get promoted to SAE.

Trying to figure out how not to get caught in a 2 years = promotion cycle, but it seems that’s where I’m at. Is this normal?? I’d be okay with 1.5 years even, but 2 years and a few months at a role I know I’m kicking ass at sucks.

I’m currently a financial analyst at an ad agency. Coming close to 2years in this role was a intern for 6 months prior at the same agency. I’m realizing I’m not enjoying the work anymore and would like to do something else. I’m looking for more of a analytical role. I’ve been thinking about being a business analyst. Can someone provide tips or advice on transitioning to a BA. Also I’ll take any advice in other roles I can transition to with my background that I may enjoy.

Promoted to AE in the fall and have gotten no negative feedback whatsoever- I ask consistently. I have notes saved from clients, VPs, ECDs etc singing my praises and have been getting AS offers at other agencies since October. I am confident that I am ready for a promotion to AS as I am doing the duties of the empty position above me but am worried that I will look greedy asking this soon. Especially given the fact that I have never supervised anyone. I do all intern-AS jobs due to understaffing

Is this salary too low? I'm @ final interview for senior accountant and job posting said $60-65k. Before you say it's too low right away, my experience is on a low end of this of this role. Just 1 year auditer @ national top 10, 6 months intern at same firm, 1 year accounting intern at local private firm, and 2 years doing AP clerk. I'm a licensed CPA and in MCOL. I really want this title for growth but don't want to get stiffed. It's a large corp w/ great benefits.

Mates, I need advice.

I'm currently working as an intern at a small firm (Biggest brazilian born firm but still small compared to MBB). But I've been studying to get into McKinsey (and Bain, but I kinda enjoy more McK), and in Brazil the next hiring process will take place at march. I'm thinking about refusing an offer from my current firm so I can study more for the upcoming process, since I've been putting 60+ hours weekly.

What you guys think it's best? To stay, or to "go big or go home"?

I received an interview invite for McKinsey’s Ops internship. While I appreciate the invite, I was hoping to interview for a generalist position. Is it better to ask the recruiter if I can be considered for a generalist interview slot instead or to accept the Ops intern invite (with the hope of transferring to generalist after the internship)?

Since no one is hiring junior writers, how about someone take me on as a freelancer or intern?

How many bullet points is too many for 1 position? I've only had intern, associate, senior (for 1 month) experience at the same firm. Add in the education and other stuff, and I can't quite reach 1 page unless I load up on the associate experience (10+ bullets).

Just got offered a position as an IT operations Intern at a finance company with my initial focus on supporting the Salesforce implementation. I have basic familiarity with the enterprise and CRM platform, any suggestions and preparation tips?

Got an offer to work at a boutique PE fund as an intern for the next few months. The role is however unpaid and the fund is new.

For some background, I’m going to be starting at a T-2 firm doing CDD for PE funds in January. Wondering if getting this kind of experience looks good when I apply to analyst roles 1-2 years out? Don’t want to work without getting paid unless the experience is valuable. Would love any perspective on this.

Might get biased answers from this bowl but interested to read thoughts. Currently in pm/bizops intern role at Tesla with summer mbb interviews coming up, and I am unsure of which path to take coming out of undergrad.

Reasons for consulting:
- travel, lifestyle
- fast paced, constant changing of clients and projects to learn and gain responsibility quickly
- friends and network among class

Pro of staying:
- fulfilling mission
- long term want to be in sustainability
Cons:
- slower growth ops

For every MBB class, is it true that more FT hires ( >= 50%) are gotten from the FT candidate pool (people who went thru the FT hiring process) rather than from their respective intern pools (who got converted from intern to FT)? Regardless of whether this is true or not, I’d appreciate it if anyone could provide me some numbers on this

Would you suggest I toughen it out for another 4 months to hit the 1 year mark, or can I only count 12 months fte when hunting for jobs? I feel like it's really taking a toll on my mental health.
